Living in Halls of Residence is a unique and unmissable experience. Residences are more than just a place to sleep and eat - they provide a unique social environment, an important aspect of University life.
You will be living with a diverse mix of students, from a rich variety of backgrounds, studying different subjects. Each residence has at least one Resident Tutor to support you if you have any problems. UEA has a small, vibrant campus, with cutting-edge architecture set against beautiful rural surroundings. All residences (except Mary Chapman Court) are located within a 10 minute walk of the centre of campus and a wide range of excellent facilities including shops, banks, and places to eat, drink and socialise. There are also great bus links from the campus to the City Centre and train and bus stations.
All University residences are self-catering and provide around 3500+ fully-furnished centrally-heated study bedrooms grouped around a shared kitchen. Over two thirds of our rooms are en-suite, with own shower, toilet and washbasin. All rooms have a single bed, wardrobe, desk with chair and fitted shelving. Each kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, freezer, and oven or
microwave oven, but residents bring their own cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery and small electrical items such as a kettle and iron (ironing boards are provided by the University but irons are not). All study rooms are connected to the UEA computer network for free and fast access to the internet.
Prices for the academic year 2007-2008 apply from 1st August 2007 and include all utilities such as electricity, gas and water. Over two thirds of our rooms fall into the highest price band of £90.23 per week for an En-suite room on campus, but there is also a cheaper En-suite option at £77.96 per week, and a number of rooms in Standard accommodation from £54.39 per week. Rooms are let on a minimum 38 week licence beginning in September. Your room in residences is yours throughout your academic year (including Christmas and Easter breaks) and the licence contract commits you to paying for the full period of the licence. The contract also commits you to living by the House Rules and Terms and Conditions of the licence.
