Arriving at UEA
Currently, this information relates to academic year 2007/8
Arrivals Week is an exciting time of the Academic year. Arrivals days are organised jointly by the Admissions and International Offices, the Dean of Students' Office, the Student's Union, Security, and the Accommodation Office, to make sure you get the best possible welcome to UEA. Details about arriving at UEA and the first few days can be found in the joining instructions
International Arrivals days
International students can check in to their accommodation between 10am and 9pm on the 19th or 20th of September. There will be student helpers and transport to help you find your accommodation and get your luggage there.
Home & EU Arrivals days
We have over 2000 Home students arriving on the same weekend, and we have limited parking available on campus. To make home arrivals as smooth as possible, we will allocate some blocks of accommodation from Saturday the 22nd and others from the 23rd. Your accommodation offer will tell you which day you should arrive, and it's important to stick to this arrival day: you don't want to move in to an empty block, or else miss out on everyone else's first night in your flat! Check-in on Home Arrivals days is available from 10am to 6pm.
Out of Hours Arrivals
We have specially extended opening hours on Arrivals days (see above), but the Accommodation Office is normally open from 9am to 5pm on Weekdays only. If you are arriving outside our standard or extended office hours, you will need to make your own arrangements for accommodation.
Can't arrive during arrivals week?
If you can't make arrivals week you need to let us know in advance so that you don't lose your room allocation. We are usually able to hold rooms for a few days, or longer if necessary - but make sure your School of Study knows what's happening too!
