How to Apply
Please do not apply for accommodation until you are invited to do so by the ticker tape above relating to your year of study.
Applying for accommodation at UEA couldn't be easier with our online forms. Read this short guide on How to Apply, and the whole process should take no longer than five minutes.
There are four different application forms, depending on what type of student you will be. Each form is split into the following sections:
Personal details
If you are a postgraduate, you will need to enter your application reference number, which will be quoted on correspondence from your school of study. For undergraduates, your identifying number will be your UCAS number (if you are applying through UCAS).
Contact details
You will need a valid email address for the contact details section. This is very important, because email is the method we use most to contact you.
Accommodation requirements
You should include any special accommodation requirements you may have, such as if you have a severe allergy, or restricted mobility. Please note that this information will be shared confidentially with the Dean of Students' Office.
Room Options
The room options available to you will be listed on the form, and you should put a number by each option to indicate your preference - eg put "1" by the type of room you most prefer, "2" by the type of room you would prefer next if we couldn't allocate your first choice, and so on.
The Postgraduate form and the Health Undergraduate Form have slightly restricted options available, because these students need to stay in residences for longer.
Terms and Conditions
You will be asked to indicate that you have read the Terms and Conditions of the Licence Agreement, which you sign when you take up your room offer on arrival at UEA. We want you to be aware that, when you apply for a room, you should expect to be living there for the full academic year, and you will be expected to abide by certain rules.
Confirmation of Receipt of Form
When you have sent the form, you will be sent an automatic email which
confirms the details we have received. The next communication you receive will be your Accommodation Offer. For more details see "What Happens Next"
Allocation Policy
When allocating rooms, our policy is to provide a mixed social environment. We try to make sure that each flat has an appropriate ratio of male to female students and home to international students, from an array of schools of study. If you have specific requirements -for example, if it would be difficult for you to live in a mixed-sex flat - please let us know in advance, and we will try to meet your requests.
Data Protection
Any personal details submitted on your application will be treated confidentially and under the conditions set out in the Data Protection Act. Please note that we will not be able to give out your new address to any third party - this includes your parents or any agents working on your behalf. For this reason, it is our policy not to tell you the details of your room allocation over the telephone.
